Core Values
First Christian Church
We acknowledge the bible as the inspired Word of God. We seek to communicate its truth in a way that is culturally relevant.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
We value all people and consider the world to be our neighborhood.
Matthew 22:37-39 “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
We consider it our mandate from Jesus Himself, to seek out those who do not know Him, and develop them into fully devoted followers of Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20 “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”
We value intimacy with God, and each other as a community of believers achieved through Fellowship, (small groups) the application of God’s Word, and worship.
Philippians 3:10-11 “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”
We are a community of servants. Therefore, it is the resopnsibility of every believer to use their God-given gifts and abilities to serve God and others.
Matthew 20:26-28 “Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
